JAMA Network Open: Outcomes Associated With Hospital at Home vs Traditional Inpatient Stay

In this research study of 15 871 Medicare beneficiaries (4174 hospital at home and 11 697 traditional inpatient admissions), hospital at home was associated with significantly lower in-hospital mortality and emergency department use within 30 days of index admission discharge. Findings suggest that hospital at home was associated with similar or better short-term clinical outcomes compared with traditional inpatient care among appropriately selected patients.
