Moving Health Home Executive Director Krista Drobac presented The Future of Hospital at Home: Policy at a Crossroads at the Hospital at Home Leadership Summit in Orlando, FL.
During the session, Drobac outlined how hospital-at-home, originally enabled through pandemic-era flexibilities, has emerged as a transformative care model capable of delivering hospital-level services in the home. She emphasized that the United States is now at a pivotal moment, where federal policy decisions will determine whether these programs scale sustainably or remain limited by regulatory uncertainty.
The session concluded with a discussion of the policy “crossroads” facing stakeholders, including the need for congressional action, alignment across federal programs, and continued advocacy to ensure home-based care models become a permanent and integrated part of the health care system.
