Moving Health Home Responds to Senate Finance Hearing on COVID-19 Health Care Flexibilities
Senators Tout Care in the Home, Witnesses Commend Hospital Without Walls Waiver

WASHINGTON, May 19, 2021 – Moving Health Home, a coalition of pioneering health care organizations with a bold vision to change the way policymakers think about the home as a site of clinical service, responded today to the U.S. Senate Committee on Finance hearing on COVID-19 health care flexibilities.

“Today, we heard Senators from across the political spectrum praise the efforts during COVID-19 to expand care in the home, whether through telehealth, hospital at home, or other home-based services, and the message was clear: Americans prefer to receive clinical services in the home,” said Krista Drobac, Founder of Moving Health Home. “Expanding care in the home is about equal access to health services, and also contributes to health equity by changing the power dynamic between historically disenfranchised populations and their medical providers.”

Drobac concluded, “We look forward to working with Congress and the Department of Health and Human Services to ensure Americans have the option to choose home as a clinical site of care by encouraging broader adoption of patient-centric, holistic home-based care through regulation and legislation.”
